FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (FOR SINGAPORE ONLY)
Swensen's hosts First Ever Historical Trail and Lunch Party for children of Club Rainbow
Swensen's also brings joy to 4 Club Rainbow children with special house visits
SINGAPORE, 27 September 2007 - Swensen's, the American restaurant chain, is celebrating Children's Day for 50 children, aged 5 to 14 years old, from Club Rainbow with an exclusive Children's Day celebration on 30th September 2007. Besides having 20 Swensen's employees taking their personal time off to lead the children through a 2-hour historical tour in the central business district (CBD), the Club Rainbow children will also have an exclusive and memorable Children's Day party in Swensen's at Suntec City.
The children will explore the historical trail of Singapore, with teachers of West Grove Primary School who volunteer as tour guides and Swensen's employees as team leaders. The trail starts from UOB Plaza and finishes with a guided tour in the Asian Civilization Museum (ACM). Along the way, the children will get to see the Botero Bird, the old General Post Office, and the Sir Stamford Raffles statue.
After the guided tour around ACM, the children of Club Rainbow take a leisurely stroll to Suntec City, where they will be introduced to landmarks such as the Padang, Singapore Cricket Club, the City Hall, and the Supreme Court. After the educational tour, they will get to party at Swensen's with great food and great fun. The party is perked up with live entertainment with a special guest appearance by Garfield and activities such as balloon sculpturing which is kindly sponsored by event company, AKS LivEvent. To end the memorable party, the children will also get to bring home a special Children's Day gift from Swensen's.
"Being a family restaurant, Children's Day means as much to the children as it is to us. We hope to bring smiles to the children through some fun and educational activities and take this opportunity for our staff to interact more with the children," says Kevin Khoo, Director, Food Services Division, ABR Holdings.
"Children's Day should be a day of happiness and enjoyment for children. Philanthropist Charles Buxton said "The first duty toward children is to make them happy. If you have not made them happy, you have wronged them; no other good they may get can make up for that." With the support of our long-time partner Swensen's, we hope to organize more of such happy and memorable events for future Children's Day," says Gregory Vijayendran, President, Club Rainbow Singapore.
Due to illnesses like spina bifida, cerebral palsy, diabetes and very low birth weight, there are some children who are unable to leave their homes for the historical trail and party at Swensen's. With the assistance of social workers from Club Rainbow, home visits were arranged for four of these children. A Swensen's ice cream cake will be delivered to each of their homes on 1st October, by representatives from Club Rainbow, Swensen's and a clown performer from AKS LivEvent, so that they will not miss out of the celebrations.
