New Invensys software enables multiphase flow simulation from Microsoft® Excel
Singapore, October 25, 2007 - The SimSci-Esscor unit of Invensys Process Systems (www.simsci-esscor.com) today announced a new version of its PIPEPHASE simulation software program that can use the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet as an interface. PIPEPHASE version 9.2 users can now drag and drop multiphase flow model parameters such as wellhead pressures, Gas Oil Ratios, PVT data, pipeline diameters, and IPR constants, directly into Excel spreadsheets.
"The ability to access any model parameter easily, change its unit of measure, and determine its status as either an input or calculated value, from within Excel puts the user in the driver's seat for data manipulating and integration" said Jim Browne, SimSci-Esscor's fluid flow manager. "By combining our SIM4ME Portal with PIPEPHASE software, we make it very easy to create custom interfaces in Excel without having to code a single line of Visual Basic. Microsoft Excel provides an ideal platform for engineers to create an operations interface that can be used by PIPEPHASE experts and non-experts alike, tapping the user's imagination in ways that would be all but impossible with a pre-configured interface."
PIPEPHASE software rigorously simulates multiphase flow in oil and gas wells and pipeline systems. It provides the power and flexibility to model applications ranging from the sensitivity analysis of key parameters in a single well, to a multiyear facilities planning study for an entire field. PIPEPHASE version 9.2 now incorporates the recently introduced SimSci-Esscor SIM4ME Portal, which enables the Microsoft Excel interface.
Communication between the flow simulator and Excel is bi-directional and requires absolutely no coding skills on the part of the user. Using the Portal users can quickly and easily create intuitive interfaces for manipulating their simulation models.
PIPEPHASE version 9.2 is available immediately. For more information, readers can visit www.simsci-esscor.com or contact jim.browne@ips.invensys.com.
