The Renault F1 Team Announces Technical Partnership With APC by Schneider Electric

Singapore, February 26, 2009 - The Renault F1 Team has announced a technical partnership with APC by Schneider Electric. "Through the new partnership with APC, the Renault F1 Team consolidates its impressive portfolio of technical partners, with whom we share a common objective of ultimate success through innovation, dedication and excellence," commented Flavio Briatore, Managing Director, Renault F1 Team.

"Significant changes to the regulations for 2009 have presented many challenges for the aerodynamic development of the car. Therefore our use of computational fluid dynamics software for aerodynamic design and validation has strategic importance for the 2009 season. APC's InfraStruXure® with Hot Aisle Containment System® (HACS) ensures dependable power and cooling for our Mistral supercomputer to run the CFD application 24x7," said Jarrod Murphy, Head of CFD of the Renault F1 Team.

"InfraStruXure® architecture is a technological solution for the high power density and scalability requirements of modern IT systems as well as supercomputers. In Grand Prix racing, data center performance makes a huge contribution to on-track performance. We are delighted that the Renault F1 Team has chosen to work with APC to protect and cool its mission-critical systems," said Paul Tyrer, Vice President, UK and Ireland, APC by Schneider Electric.

Equipment supplied for Renault F1 Team Computational Aerodynamic Research Centre includes two separate APC InfraStruXure® HACS® complete with NetShelter equipment racks, APC InRow RC cooling units, APC Symmetra Uninterruptible Power Supplies and Netbotz monitoring appliances with CCTV cameras. In addition, InfraStruXure® Central software has been installed, to provide a centralised physical infrastructure management platform with real-time device monitoring, immediate event notification and the ability to quickly assess and resolve critical situations within the physical layer.
