FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (For Singapore Only)

Swensen's to bring unique gastronomic adventures of Europe to its diners

SINGAPORE, March 4, 2009 - American restaurant chain Swensen's brings unique European gastronomic delights to all diners, with the sincere hope of brightening up the gloomy climate with a spirit of the much-loved culinary delights from authentic recipes that you can find in different parts of Europe. The European set meals are available only from March 3 to April 30, 2009, starting from S$15.90 at all 23 Swensen's restaurants throughout Singapore.

Swensen's chefs are bringing to Singapore some of the cornerstone dishes from the rustic corners of Europe. These are family dishes that have endeared themselves to generations of people, who continue to love these dishes for they remind them of their mums' wholesome and hearty meals. At the end of a tired and worrisome day, such unique European delights would sure bring a smile to anyone's face.

Here are some of the European delights we hope you will enjoy:

France: Chicken Ratatouille - S$15.90
The French, especially in the area of Nice, have always loved the traditional stewed vegetable dish, with the well cooked and subdued taste of tomatoes, together with a mixture of zucchini, onions, eggplant, bell peppers, garlic, marjoram, basil, bay leaf, and thyme, to perfection.

The Swensen's chefs retained the traditional taste of French Ratatouille accompanying a hearty serving of juicy grilled chicken roll and roasted potatoes.

Britain: Shepherd's Pie - S$15.90
Antoine-Augustin Parmentier was a passionate advocate of potato as a food source, and today, the potato is venerated in many dishes in the European cuisine. You may have experienced the cottage pie all around the world, such as Australia, the United States, France, and Britain. The Shepherd's Pie, a variation of the cottage pie, came into prominence since the 1870s, with potato and meat stewed and then baked to an aromatic savory pie that delights the young and old alike.

Swensen's recreated the experience with chunks of beef and vegetables stewed over slow heat for many hours, and topped with creamy mashed potatoes before baking it to perfection for serving.

Germany: Beef Rouladen - S$16.90
Now we all know the French are pretty good with rolls, but the Germans have the Beef Rouladen, apparently the favorite food for married men in Germany, for its rich taste needs many loving hours of cooking to prepare.

The Swensen's rendition takes tantalizing stuffed beef rolls braised with herb sauce, served with Sauerkraut and creamy potatoes.

Italy: Grilled Fish with Pesto Crust - S$16.90
In the rustic countryside of Italy, people would ground Genovese basil, salt, garlic, Ligurian extra virgin olive oil, toasted pine nuts, and Parmigiano Reggiano hard cheese, in a marble mortar with a wooden pestle, to create "Pesto alla Genovese" sauce. The aroma and herbal qualities of basil is well known (even to the Thais in Asia).

The Swensen's chefs took tenderly baked fish fillet and married it with a crispy Pesto crust, and accompanied with flavorful Ravioli and creamy spinach to complete the rich countryside experience with the goodness of fish.

Dessert: Profiteroles Glacee - S$10.90
Nothing beats a good dessert to round off a hearty wholesome meal. Savor this French creation! Delicious scoops of Sticky Chewy Chocolate, Strawberry and Ol' Fashioned Vanilla ice cream served with Profiteroles and drizzling with warm tantalizing chocolate sauce.

Each European set meal comes with a Soup-of-the-day and soft drink.

HSBC card members can enjoy 10% off the bill, or a complimentary European set meal with any set ordered. Cool Rewards members can enjoy a S$2 off Profiteroles Glacee with any European set meal ordered.
