Qualifying
Singapore's CORUM ThunderAsia Racing's Melvin Choo took pole in Class B, beating Hong Kong's Philip Ma of Jacob & Co Racing, with Yuey Tan in third for Team PCS Racing. Choo, who leads the category with a healthy margin, was less than pleased with his performance: "It was a very disappointing session. I had hoped to drive well but I didn't. I've been distracted the whole weekend."
Speaking about the Goldenport track, where Melvin Choo is racing for the first time, and which is notorious for demanding absolute concentration as well as courage, Choo said: "It's a tricky little track that needs good concentration to do well, but I didn't. I think I'll be better tomorrow, because I can't be worse!"
The weekend marks a triumphant return to Beijing for the series after an absence of three years. The Porsche Carrera Cup made its debut in the Chinese capital in 2003, when it became the first international series to race in the city.

Race 3
In Class B, points leader Melvin Choo took the win for his CORUM ThunderAsia Racing team, with Jacob & Co Racing's Philip Ma second, and Yuey Tan of Team PCS Racing in third. Choo's win increases his lead at the top of the Class B standings. Concerned before the race that mentally things weren't as they should be, he nevertheless pulled it together when it mattered: "I was forced to focus. The last five laps were really tough, I was tired and it was difficult to concentrate. Even though there was a car in front of me, there was no fuel left in the tank to fight."
Hong Kong's Ma has plenty of experience of the tight and twisting Beijing track: "I started racing here in 2003. It's tight, physically demanding, you have to be careful. If you don't pay proper attention to it, you will definitely pay. It takes time to get used to it."
With temperatures cooler than in yesterday's qualifying session, Ma wasn't alone in believing his set up wasn't 100% correct for today's race. However, with a second, 18-lap race this afternoon, the drivers will have time to make adjustments and come out fighting.
For series newcomer Tan, his first podium was well earned: "I'm happy to bring the car home! I was tired at the end, and the tyres were quite worn out, but I'm happy." Tan, who is new to the circuit, was then off to recharge his physical batteries for Round 4.

Race 4
Singaporean Melvin Choo took his fourth consecutive victory in Class B, ahead of Jacob & Co Racing's Philip Ma of Hong Kong, with fellow countryman Mak Hing Tak of OMAK Team third after an epic battle with Team PCS Racing's Yuey Tan.
Fourth over the line was Dutchman Danny Chu who emerged triumphant after a multi-lap battle with Dilango Racing's Dilantha Malagamuwa. While Choo pulled ahead of the pack, Mak and Tan were engaged in a battle of their own, with the Hong Kong racer finally claiming the remaining podium place with a margin of just 0.217 of a second. Said Mak: "I had a better start than Yuey, but spun at the last corner. I tried my best to catch up!"
The second race rounded off an enormously successful debut 'Fascination Porsche', which saw hundreds of Porsche fans descend on the Beijing racing facility for a weekend of automotive action and excitement.
