Swensen's launches the Largest Family Friendly Restaurant in the heart of Orchard Road at ION Orchard

New restaurant features family-centric meals and ice-cream buffet, themed entertainment, and Asian delights

Singapore, September 3, 2009 - Swensen's, the popular family restaurant that celebrates her 30th year in Singapore, recently added ION Orchard to her current network of 21 Swensen's and 2 Earle Swensen's restaurants. The new restaurant infuses a sense of the nostalgic and cozy dining experience of the historical Swensen's restaurants, with a spectrum of main meals and ice cream desserts to cater to the palate of multi-generational families. The new restaurant was embraced by enthusiastic diners during the recent soft launch, with a packed house over weekends.

Fusion of Nostalgia and Contemporary Design

The new restaurant is the largest Swensen's outlet in Singapore. It spans over 6,600 square feet at #B1-31 ION Orchard, just 2 minutes away from the Orchard MRT station.

The restaurant greets diners with a playful and upbeat contemporary interior design that preserves the cozy dining experience that frequent visitors desire. There are even dining booths reminiscent of the electric trams that plied the streets of San Francisco for a romantic tete-a-tete. The heartwarming aroma of an all American cuisine interjected against a comfortable and homely environment, would serve up a dining experience that allows most people to feel completely at ease and satiated.

It is All about the Family

The new Swensen's ION was designed with one goal in mind, to become the preferred restaurant for multi-generational families to enjoy hearty meals together. The restaurant features large Jumbo Combo dishes for families and friends to dig in together. The first-ever Ice Cream and Dessert Buffet also aims to please the young and the young at heart, with the largest palate of ice cream to seduce the taste buds of just about anyone.

Swensen's ION was also designed to be friendly for celebratory events. Diners can consult Swensen's managers to design memorable parties at great value. What's more, Swensen's ION aims to keep the restaurant vibrant with themed entertainment for kids every weekend, with "live" entertainment from talents such as clowns, magicians and musicians.

Beyond Jumbo Combo dishes, Swensen's ION's menu includes local favorites carried over from its 24-hour outlets, so that the extended families can enjoy not just an all-American dining experience, but also some of the most popular Asian dishes, known as Asian Delights. After all, there is nothing like an intimate dining moment between doting grandparents and their young grandchildren.

First Ice Cream and Dessert Buffet

Besides the standard menu, Swensen's ION introduces their very first Ice Cream and Dessert Buffet featuring an indulgent selection of over 50 ice cream flavors, 40 or more sundae toppings, chocolate fondue and other delectable desserts like waffles and cakes.

The wide selection of ice cream flavors includes their ever-popular Sticky Chewy Chocolate, Frosted Chocolate Malt, Ol' Fashion Vanilla and Banana Spilt, as well as new additions like Blackforest, Rocky Road, Chendol, Durian and Milo. Other than the regular range of ice cream flavors, Swensen's Gelato flavors are also available at ION. The flavors includes flavors like Cookies Cheesecake Gelato, Kiwi Banana Gelato and Peachy Mango Yogurt Gelato.

For the adventurous, walk over to the Chop Shop™ counter to create your very own sundae concoction in three simple steps over a special frozen concrete slab. Simply pick any dry toppings and ice cream flavors then watch the staff chop away on the concrete slab to create the uniquely yours ice cream sundae.

Swensen's aims to keep the Ice Cream and Dessert Buffet selection vibrant and surprising for diners, with regular changes to the ice cream flavors.

Jumbo Combo Exclusively at ION Orchard

Swensen's launches an exclusive range of Jumbo Combo dishes suitable for 3 to 4 persons, perfect for small gatherings of families and friends to indulge in a meal together.

Jumbo Seafood Pasta (S$29.50)
Crispy fried soft shell crab atop spaghetti served with prawns, crab sticks, egg, and Laksa gravy.

Jumbo Seafood Baked Rice (S$35)
A sumptuous seafood spread of mussels, prawns and crab sticks baked over savory rice with cheese and tomato salsa sauce.

Jumbo Beef Lasagna (S$29.50)
Hearty minced beef in between luscious layers of pasta and spinach, and accompanied with tangy tomato sauce.

Jumbo Mixed Grill Platter (S$45)
A mixed grilled platter of lamb chops, chicken legs, beef steaks and herb sausages, served together with vegetable of the day, corn on cob and mashed potato.
