FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (For Singapore Only)

Brady Announces Asia Pacific R&D Center in Singapore

New R&D Center strategically located for competitiveness and growth in Asia Pacific

Singapore, 24 September 2009 - Brady Corporation (NYSE:BRC), one of the world's leading manufacturers and marketers of identification products and specialty materials, today announces the opening of its research and development (R&D) center in Singapore, the Brady Innovation Center, Singapore.

According to Brady Corporation, there are several key reasons for establishing the R&D Center in Singapore. Firstly, Brady's APAC regional business leadership and global marketing activities are concentrated in Singapore. The geographical location enables Brady to serve its regional operations and customers efficiently. At the same time, Brady can leverage Singapore's talent pool encompassing cultural diversity, experienced, educated, ethical and conscientious technical professionals which enable efficient engagement with customers and Brady employees globally. Singapore's diplomatic stability facilitates staff travel, enabling Brady to deliver urgent customer technical support throughout the APAC region. In addition, the legislative environment provides strong intellectual property (IP) protection and supports research and development.

Rapid growth of R&D in Singapore

Brady invests approximately a quarter of its global R&D investment in Asia Pacific R&D Centers which are led by Dr. Grant Hay, Asia Pacific R&D Director, Brady Corporation.

"I joined Brady in the middle of 2007, with a mandate to establish Brady's new product development and technology development capabilities in Asia Pacific." Said Dr Hay. "In the last two years, we have ramped up both variable and fixed spending, adding 60 employees in Asia Pacific, with a plan to expand to 80 by the end of 2009. Approximately half of these resources and 80% of the leadership team will be based in Singapore. Our staffing and infrastructure is now at a point where we are positioned to add significant value to Brady and its customers."

Brady's spectrum of products

Brady is one of the world's leading providers of product, facility and safety identification, people identification, and precision die cut solutions. Globally Brady has lodged up to more than 100 US and foreign applications for patents under prosecution, and has more than 300 US and foreign active patents granted.

With the opening of the Asia Pacific R&D center, Brady is expected to drive innovative solutions for the Asian market while tightly aligning to the regional business strategy and its corporate vision. About 7 products have been completed in Asia Pacific and some of the latest ones will be announced within the next 2 months. Products include:

* EPREP (Engraved Panel Replacement Labels). These are innovative labels specifically designed to replace engraved and plotted plates for the identification of electrical components, electrical cabinets, push buttons, patch panels. EPREP labels save time and money by allowing users to print nameplates exactly when they want them instead of having to order pre-printed nameplates. EPREP labels are made with a specially developed Brady material that has excellent resistance to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, weathering, and chemicals such as alcohols and diesel oils.

* Optically Clear Gap Filler is an optically clear material filling into the air gap between a liquid crystal display (LCD) screen and the protective cover of the display area of mobile consumer electronics devices. The Brady optically clear gap filler is used in a wide array of mobile devices such as mobile handsets, MP3 players, and global positioning services (GPS) devices.

* VTM-0 (B-8088 UL 94 VTM 0 Flame Retardant and Halogen-Free label) is a halogen-free flame retardant label which possesses self-extinguishing properties, making it more difficult to ignite, thereby reducing the spread of fire in potential fire hazards found in portable or hand held devices.

* Power Mark (PowerMark(R)) allows users to customize signs with the use of multiple color printing. This sign and label maker lets users create industrial strength signs and labels, 4 to 10 inches wide, in up to four colors.

* Global Mark is an industrial printer for users to create their own custom signs, labels, pipe markers, and tags. Global Mark comes with an advanced touch-screen technology for fast and simple professional label production, powered by the Microsoft Windows(R) CE operating system.

Bringing global experience to Asia

The company posted consolidated revenue of US$1.209 billion for fiscal 2009, ending 31 July 2009.

"Brady is a firm believer that committed R&D creates a sustainable company. We invest 2 to 3 percent of our annual revenue for R&D activities globally. We believe that building strong R&D capability in Asia reinforces the company's strategy of meeting the robust and emerging Asia market demands and expanding steadily in this region," said Dr. Bob Tatterson, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Brady Corporation.

Dr. Tatterson, who has responsibilities for Brady's global R&D activities including those in Asia, commented that R&D work in the new center will include advanced materials and industrial printing systems developments. Brady Corporation has major R&D centers in USA, Belgium, Sweden, China and Singapore.
