FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (For Singapore Only)
Gloria Jean's Coffees and World Vision Partnership
Singapore, December 4, 2009 - Gloria Jean's Coffees in Singapore, has partnered with World Vision International to promote its Child Sponsorship Programme amongst Singaporeans here.
At all its stores, Gloria Jean's Coffees, Australia's leading specialty coffee retailer, has also committed to sponsor seven children around the world, through the sale of Christmas Gingerbread. The Gloria Jean's Coffees and World Vision Partnership will run for a year from December 1st, 2009 and is promoted through all Gloria Jean's outlets in Singapore.
It may be difficult for an average Singaporean or young person to imagine that there are many children around the world living in abject poverty, who do not even receive the basic needs of food and shelter, much less education and other developmental needs many Singapore residents or children may take for granted everyday.
Gloria Jean's Coffees aims to partner with World Vision to help find sponsors for these impoverished children. A typical child sponsor contributes S$45 a month, which goes towards the basic and educational needs of the child the sponsor chooses, as well as towards the betterment of his or her community. The sponsor is welcomed to maintain regular communication with the child and lend moral support, reassurance, and care.
Gingerbread Boy and Gingerbread Girl
Gloria Jean's Coffees cafes will feature World Vision posters and leaflets to explain this partnership. All public enquiries for child sponsorship and donations should be directed to World Vision International directly.
At the same time, each Gloria Jean's Coffees store has committed to sponsor a child each from seven different countries - Mongolia, China, the Philippines, Lesotho, Zambia, and Cambodia. This would include S$540 for a full year of initial sponsorship for a child. Should there be any excess, it will go towards the child, his or her family, and his or her community. This sponsorship is raised through the sale of the Gloria Jean's Gingerbread Girl and Gingerbread Boy at S$3 each, available at all Gloria Jean's outlets.
"All of us at Gloria Jean's Coffees believe in living out one of our brand's core values of 'changing lives', and what better way than to collaborate with our guests in the Christmas season of giving and sharing, to help the impoverished children through World Vision International fulfill their basic needs and education which we regularly take for granted," says Susan Tann, General Manager, Gloria Jean's Coffees.
