FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (For Singapore Only)

Schneider Electric Pledges Support for Earth Hour 2009

Employees pledge to commit to the one hour blackout and more

SINGAPORE, March 26, 2009 - Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management, today announced that its team in the Singapore office will be pledging to support Earth Hour, by switching off all lights in the office for one hour on Friday, 27 March 2009.

Earth Hour 2009 (www.earthhour.org) aims to reach more than one billion people in 1,000 cities around the world, inviting communities, business and governments to switch off lights for one hour at 8:30pm on Saturday, March 28, 2009, and sending a powerful global message that people care enough about climate change to take action.

On 27 March 2009, a day before the Earth Hour, the management of Schneider Electric will host a "town hall" meeting to remind employees of their pledge. This would be followed by a one hour blackout period in the office.

Schneider Electric has rallied its employees in the ASEAN headquarters in Singapore and more than 600 employees are expected to participate. To help drive awareness and participation from all its employees, Schneider Electric sent an email explaining why the company is committing to Earth Hour 2009, and how every one can help by turning lights off for an hour on the global blackout day at home. Employees were also encouraged to pledge what they would do during that one-hour blackout period. The pledges are pinned up on a large pledge banner in the office as a visible reminder to all employees of their commitment.

"The one hour blackout pledged by our employees island wide is our commitment to mitigate climate change. As energy optimists, Schneider Electric leads by example in this meaningful global movement." said TS Khoo, Vice President, ASEAN, APC by Schneider Electric.

"As the global specialist in energy management, we are determined to help and contribute to solving the energy challenge. Our strategy is clear: we bridge the energy producers and energy users by making energy safe, reliable, efficient, productive and green. We can help people make the most of their energy while using less of our common planet," said Stuart Thorogood, South East Asia Zone Director, Schneider Electric.
