Oxford Orthopaedics is increasing its dedication to local community sport with a multi-year partnership with the Singapore Flying Disc Association (SFDA) as title sponsor of the Oxford Gender League 2026.

The continued partnership, which started in 2023 and is now entering its fourth consecutive year, aims to promote regular sporting participation within the flying disc community in Singapore. As title sponsor, Oxford Orthopaedics offers financial assistance to help subsidize tournament entry fees and provide prize money for top-performing teams. These practical contributions keep community Ultimate affordable for people from all walks of life, encouraging both the casual player and the dedicated club athlete to stay engaged, play often, and build lasting relationships within their local sports communities.

New Format & Expanding Community Interest

Community leagues are a critical component of the larger Ultimate ecosystem, uniting athletes from a wide range of schools, clubs, and experience levels throughout the year. The 2026 edition of the league will feature a new seven-a-side format across gender divisions, with the league using a live captain’s draft instead of pre-formed club rosters. This structural shift intentionally mixes players of varying skill levels and social circles, breaking down traditional team silos and giving players the opportunity to share the field with teammates they might not otherwise meet. The draft is a friendly entry point into competitive play for new and returning players, while seasoned athletes can challenge their skills outside their normal club teams. The grassroots excitement about this new dynamic has been palpable, with 111 players signing up ahead of the live draft, far exceeding the original goal of 100. Tournament action will take place over four Sundays at the Eunoia Junior College field, on 16 August, 23 August, 30 August, and 6 September 2026.

Sustainable Sporting Growth

Both groups believe the new partnership will be a key catalyst for community health and sports participation. “We’ve seen community sport grow when people have regular pathways to play and stay connected to their sport,” said Keegan Gan, Head of Marketing at Oxford Orthopaedics. “As an orthopedic practice, we understand the importance of active lifestyles to one’s well-being, and this sponsorship is a way to help Ultimate grow and develop structured competitive opportunities,” Gan said.

President of the SFDA, Subhajeet “Jeet” Parida said: “The league has been a fixture on the national calendar, and we are very grateful for the partnership that started in 2023. The continued support from Oxford Orthopaedics has ensured that the league remains affordable to enter.”

The Greater Sports Ecosystem

The partnership is a reflection of the wider philosophy of Oxford Orthopaedics to promote active lifestyles far beyond the clinical environment. Oxford Orthopaedics is a specialist orthopedic practice in Singapore, providing comprehensive assessment and care for musculoskeletal conditions of the knee, hip, shoulder, elbow, foot, and ankle. The team of fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons provides subspecialty care for sports injuries, trauma, joint replacement, complex reconstruction, and joint preservation techniques, including cartilage repair and regeneration, offering both non-surgical and surgical treatment tailored to individual patient needs. Oxford Orthopaedics collaborates with the national governing body for flying disc competitions, SFDA, on community outreach, athlete development, and national team pathways to create an environment for Singaporeans to discover, love, and sustain their passion for sport over the long haul.
