Editor’s brief: One of the shining stars of industrial automation with a fast-growing segment of robots known as collaborative robots (cobots), Universal Robots, has seen a new leadership appointment. Kim Povlsen, an embedded IoT engineering talent and most recently VP of global technology strategy from industrial engineering giant Schneider Electric, has joined Universal Robots as President. Povlsen earned a Masters in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science from Syddansk Universitet – University of Southern Denmark. Read more below.

SINGAPORE – As of today, Kim Povlsen will serve as President of Universal Robots, it was announced by Teradyne, Inc. (NASDAQ:TER). The next phase of growth and innovation at Universal Robots will be guided by Povlsen, who brings executive leadership from a global, high-tech and commercial perspective. Kim’s first day in his new position at Universal Robots is March 1, 2021.

Kim has served in a variety of executive roles at Schneider Electric, a multinational corporation specializing in energy management and automation, both in the business and technology sectors. His most recent position was vice president of strategy and technology for a global company with annual revenues in the billions. Kim has an M.S. in Computer Science and Embedded Engineering from the University of Southern Denmark and currently resides in Aarhus, Denmark.
